Overview
NPC Cloud users may receive the following error or may get stuck on NPC Processing Start status when Payments2Us processes Payment Txns through NPC Processing:
Program Area:
NPCUtil.processFundraisingAPIResponse
Subject:
Fundraising API response error createGiftTransaction
Description:
Enter a due date that's on or between the Start Date and End Date of the schedule.
Payment Txn Id:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This error can prevent the affected Payment Txns from reaching Matching Complete.
Why I Get the Issue
When a Payment Transaction is associated with a Recurring Payment, it is linked to a corresponding Gift Commitment record in Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud (NPC).
If the Gift Commitment has a Gift Commitment Schedule configured with a pause period, Salesforce NPC prevents the creation of Gift Transactions for payments that fall within the configured start and end dates of that schedule.
As a result, when Payments2Us processes a recurring payment, it initiates NPC Processing to create the corresponding Gift Transaction through the Salesforce Fundraising API. However, if the payment falls within an active pause period configured on the associated Gift Commitment Schedule, Salesforce rejects the Gift Transaction creation request.
This prevents the Payment Transaction from completing the NPC matching process successfully.
In short: The issue occurs because the associated Gift Commitment has a pause schedule that prevents Salesforce NPC from creating Gift Transactions during the configured period.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, review the Gift Commitment Schedule associated with the Gift Commitment and remove or update any schedule that is preventing Gift Transaction creation.
Ensure that the Gift Commitment has a valid schedule that allows the Gift Transaction to be created.
Once this has been corrected, update the affected Payment Transaction's status to Receipting Complete. The Payments2Us Batch Processor will then automatically pick up the transaction and initiate NPC Processing to create the corresponding Gift Transaction through the Salesforce Fundraising API.
The transaction should be picked up and processed within approximately 10 minutes.
How to Prevent This Issue in Future
To avoid this issue occurring with future recurring payments, consider one of the following approaches:
- Manage charging schedules through Recurring Payments: Avoid creating Gift Commitment Schedules to control recurring payment charges. The charging schedule should be managed through the Recurring Payment configuration in Payments2Us.
- Synchronise Gift Commitment Schedules with Recurring Payments: If you need to use Gift Commitment Schedules in NPC, implement an automation that ensures the corresponding schedule and charging dates on the Recurring Payment are kept in sync.
schedule and charging dates on the Recurring Payment are kept in sync.
This will help ensure that the Gift Commitment Schedule does not unintentionally prevent Payments2Us from creating Gift Transactions for recurring payments.
