How to Apply a Collapsible Address Bar in 3-Step Form

Streamline address collection and reduce clutter with auto-filled address fields.

🧭 When to Use This

If you've connected your Studio forms to an address validation tool like DataTools Kleber or AddressFinder, enabling a collapsible address bar helps create a cleaner, faster donation experience. Instead of showing all address fields upfront, the form hides them by default and autofills them once the donor selects their address from the lookup.

Donors can also manually expand the address section if needed.

Benefits of using collapsible address:

  • Improves donor experience and reduces form fatigue by keeping the form visually clean
  • Reduces data entry errors when paired with validation tools

⚠️ Important: This feature is only recommended if you're using a connected address validation service like DataTools or AddressFinder. Otherwise, address autofill will not work.

✅ How to Enable Collapsible Address in Studio

1. Open Your Form

  • Go to the Manage Forms tab in Studio.
  • Find the form you want to update and click Edit.

2. Enable the Collapsible Address Setting

  • In the form editor, go to the Contact tab.
  • Under Standard Contact Fields, find Address and click Edit.
  • Tick the checkbox: “Apply Collapse & Expand Style for Address Box.”
  • Click Update next to Address.
  • Click Update at bottom to save the changes.

3. Review Address Field Requirements

To control whether fields are required or optional:

  • Still in the Contact tab, click Edit beside each sub-field (Address, Street, Suburb, State, Postcode, Country).
  • Tick or untick “Required to fill field” depending on your needs.
  • Click Update next to each field.
  • Finally, click Update at the bottom to save all changes.

📝 Note: If you want the entire address section to be optional, you must untick “Required” for all address sub-fields.

4. Test Your Live Form

  • Open any Studio page that is linked to this updated form.
  • Try entering an address in the field — if address validation is enabled, the full address should autofill and the hidden sub-fields will appear populated.
